At Neumann Brothers we encourage learning through experience and consider it an honor when we have the opportunity to host interns. We are fortunate to have Gavin Scroggin, a new Project Management Intern, as part of our crew until August.
Gavin will gain hands on experience working alongside our seasoned Project Managers for the next 8 months. Gavin will assist with bidding, estimating, scheduling, and submittals, attend Owner and jobsite meetings and learn the day to day tasks involved in a construction project. “I’m excited to get hands on experience both in the field and in the office,” commented Gavin.
Currently a sophomore at Iowa State University, Gavin is majoring in Construction Engineering. “I’ve wanted to work in the construction industry since I was a kid,” he said, “and Iowa State [University] has one of the top Construction Engineering programs in the country, it’s a great match for me.” Gavin’s goal after college is to work as a Project Manager and it is our goal to help set him up for success.
Gavin is not new to the construction industry. During high school he took jobs roofing and siding homes and following his move to Des Moines in 2015 he took up work as a laborer on newly constructed and remodeled homes and smaller commercial projects. His knowledge of the field and eagerness to dig into the responsibilities our Project Managers take on make him a great fit. “I am excited to learn from the Project Managers here and to have the chance to help them out as much as I can” said Gavin.
Over the years internships have evolved into full time positions after graduation. We strive to find the right fit with each intern and when we do, we end up with some of the best around! We want our interns to develop professionally and grow their passion and knowledge of the industry. We firmly believe the best way to do that is by diving in head first. We are excited to see what Gavin accomplishes during his internship with us. Welcome to the crew!
