Safe + Sound Week 2017 Recap

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

By Crystal Leto

Neumann Brothers, Inc. participated in OSHA's inaugural Safe + Sound Week, June 12-18, 2017. Committed to safety every day - Safety Week was a great opportunity to focus on safety topics and have conversations about safety on jobsites.

Alec Schaufenbuel, Assistant Safety Director took the lead in planning activities during Safe + Sound Week designed to raise awareness of hazards and identify ways to keep the workplace safe. The field teams talked about hazard identification and hearing protection in two separate tool-box talks and identified hazards in several pictures.

Alec was happy with the interest in Safe + Sound Week and said “I was glad we were able to have companywide participation in our safe & sound week festivities. Our employees are the reason we are pushing out more and more safety related items, and we want to make sure they have what they need to succeed. With the high level of response we got in our activities it truly feels like we are taking another step in becoming ‘The Standard of Excellence’ in safety.”

As part of Safe + Sound Week – four of our Neumann crew took the time out of their busy schedules to let us capture their answers to a few safety related questions on video (scroll down for videos). Thank you to Chad Bunner, Jody Brown, John Neumann and Robbi Howard for taking the time to share their thoughts about safety!

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide effort  to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Safety Council (NSC), the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) co-sponsor the week-long campaign.
