Safety & Coordination Key for New Stivers Collision Center

Friday, July 6, 2018

Neumann Brothers, Inc. has once again teamed up with Stivers Ford Lincoln in Waukee to design and build a new 17,000 square foot collision center designed by DesignBuild Solutions, our in-house design subsidiary. The project design began in December 2017 and is set to be complete by December 2018.

The facility will be a custom designed metal building structure with clear spans and hidden columns to maximize the ability for interior work space. The exterior façade includes multi-colored architectural metal panels, EIFS (exterior insulation and finish system) – a non-load bearing cladding system that provides an insulated, water-resistant, finished surface to the exterior walls – and brick. The project also includes a large concrete display lot which will provide space for over 200 vehicles.

“Coordination for this project is critical,” said Project Engineer Gavin Scroggin. “Communication with all subcontractors and vendors is of the highest priority because everyone from the metal building supplier to the paint booth supplier to the MEP contractors have to not only meet the project schedule, they also have to meet all applicable codes for auto body shops.”

Safety is another critical component of this project. The jobsite has a public sidewalk that skirts the perimeter that will remain open throughout the project. Ensuring the safety of everyone on the jobsite and any pedestrians is something we take very seriously.

“I’m excited for this project,” said Project Superintendent Lance Howard. “This is the first project I’ve had the opportunity to run as a full-on Superintendent. I’m ready to complete it successfully and maintain the great relationships we have with both Stivers and the City of Waukee.”

Mobilization for the new collision center began in May. Site grading was completed despite Mother Nature’s attempts to rain out the crew. Site utilities are currently being installed and paving for the display parking lot began over the weekend and will be followed by footings in early July.

In 2013, we completed a 13,000 square foot expansion of the Stivers service areas and a 2-acre parking lot. The addition doubled their Quick Lane capacity, increased their service, collision center, accessory and vehicle prep areas by 50 percent each.

We enjoy a great relationship with Stivers and we are excited about the opportunity to work with them again!
