Project Description:

The spectacular 117,000-square-foot Science Center of Iowa includes three unique theaters including a domed planetarium and Iowa's first 180-degree domed IMAX theater. The centerpiece of the grand entrance lobby is the 45-foot-diameter oculus with the Center's famous pendulum, relocated from the former museum building. The facility also houses 8 experience platforms; classrooms and conference rooms; and retail, office, and food service space.

The Center's striking exterior features stainless steel tiles on two cylindrical theater portions and golden clay brick, plus a clay tile cladding system that provides unique moisture protection for the building. Just outside the Center is a large promenade with a water fountain.
