Economy Forms of Des Moines contracted Neumann to build a new concrete form manufacturing plant in 2008 adjacent to their existing campus. The 182,400 sq. ft. facility is a pre-engineered metal building constructed with structural precast, architectural precast and a cast-in-place radius façade, built using EFCO Redi-Radius Forms to match the EFCO Forming Institute structure Neumann built in 2002. This fast-track project included: two bridge cranes, 12 overhead doors and 7 full-length loading docks, as well as press foundations and utility trenches for the building systems. There is a unique distribution system utilized for overhead utilities to service the plant equipment and the roof contains skylight panels, facilitating solar light, 9 roof fans and 18 sidewall exhaust fans. The complex electrical distribution system also utilized light fixtures with occupancy sensors to assist with energy efficiency. The building includes offices and locker rooms for workers and management. The overall project included all site work, utilities and over 15,600 sq. yards of parking utilized for semi-staging area.
