Project Description

The spectacular 117,000 square foot Science Center of Iowa includes three unique theaters including a domed planetarium and Iowa's first 180-degree domed IMAX theater. The centerpiece of the grand entrance lobby is the 45-foot-diameter oculus. The Center also houses the famous pendulum, relocated from the former museum building. The facility has 7 experience platforms, classrooms and conference rooms, and retail, office, and food service space. The Center's striking exterior features stainless steel tiles on two cylindrical theater portions and golden clay brick, plus a clay tile cladding system that provides unique moisture protection for the building. Just outside the Center is a large promenade with a water fountain.
