Project Description

The project was a 60,000 SF interior remodel complete with an eight (8) screen movie theater, full service kitchen, restaurant and brewery. Flix Brewhouse is located on the 2nd floor of the Merle Hay mall where the lower level tenant spaces and public access had to be maintained at all times. The roof structure for the area of renovation was raised 14 feet to meet height requirements for the movie theaters. All supporting structural steel columns, beams and pad footings were increased to handle the increased loads. Complete new mechanical, electric and plumbing systems were fully integrated into the existing mall facility to support the renovated space. Once the new structures were in place Neumann Brothers proceeded to complete architectural finishes for the movie theaters, new kitchen, bar, restaurant, brewery and mall common spaces. Neumann crews self-performed numerous demolition tasks, completed the entire concrete work (architectural and structural) and installed all custom reclaimed barn wood wall paneling. Constant coordination with kitchen equipment designers, two Owners groups and two design firms was a great success in transforming this tenant space to one of the most unique cinema experiences in the mid-west.
