As a Union Contractor is was our pleasure to build the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC) Altoona Training Center. The 49,000 SF facility is divided into two major areas. The first is a two story 20,000 SF area that houses offices, classrooms and general administrative spaces. The second is a one story 29,000 SF open bay area which holds their new hands-on training and provides workshop spaces.
Constructed with architectural pre-cast concrete, the facility includes a welding room, space for a bridge crane, an observation area overlooking the training bay, classrooms for apprentices, a lunch room and a rooftop patio above the radius entrance. With roof pavers and a guardrail system, the rooftop patio can be accessed from the board room after meetings or from the hallway to enjoy an Iowa night.
The radius sidewalk leading up to the building’s main entrance is made of integrated bands of colored paving to beautifully accent the brick and pre-cast. There is also a radius curtain wall system with metal panels above and adequate greenspace around. Landscaping includes a poured concrete edging system around planter beds to make maintenance and mowing an ease.
