Project Description

Neumann Brothers was contracted to restore the exterior of Terrace Hill, the Iowa Governor's Mansion. The work included repairing and replacing the slate shingle roof, restoring wood trim, and painting. All work was performed while the building was in full use by its occupants. The project won the 2002 "Best Preserved" award from the Iowa Historic Preservation Alliance recognizing outstanding achievement in historical preservation. In its commendation, the alliance cited: "Multi-colored slate roofs, towers, and an asymmetrical plan help make it one of the most lavish Second Empire-style houses in the country."
