Exile Brewing Company Addition

Exile Brewing Company is one of Iowa’s fastest growing brewers – and that required an addition to expand their brewing facilities connected to their restaurant located in downtown Des Moines. By working with Neumann, the pub was able to remain open to business throughout the construction while adding a 3,100 SF high bay precast/brick production to their campus.

The addition houses up to 10 fermentation tanks measuring 8’ in diameter and 22.5’ high each, and provides cold storage as well as additional brewing capacity for the Owner’s new beer canning line. The structure is supported by 153 Vibratory Stone Column deep foundations (installed in just three (3) days) while the building itself is constructed from load bearing precast walls and brick veneer with a curtain wall system and black metal accent paneling.

Exile Brewing Company

The Owner chose to use construction savings to extend the existing exterior beer garden patio and added a custom Brazilian hardwood fence around the patio’s perimeter. Crews also added a new elevator in the existing restaurant providing ADA compliant access to the banquette space on the 2nd floor. We fabricated custom items as the scope changed including a trap door for the exterior bar, a stainless steel taper box with Corian shelves, an oak display case and a concrete drainage ditch to route standing water away from the building. Our ability to self-perform work played a pivotal role in the project’s success.
