Intern Spotlight: James McNaughton

Intern Spotlight: James McNaughton

In 2019 James McNaughton was part of our team as a co-op assisting with various historic restoration and new construction projects. This year has had its fair share of twists and turns for all of us but for James one of those unexpected turns brought him back to Neumann Brothers as a 2020 project intern.

Last year James assisted with the initial submittal process for Iowa State’s Sports Performance Center (SPC) and this year he gets to continue on with that project spending over half of his time on-site. “I’m excited to continue to learn,” James says about having the rare opportunity to follow the same project over multiple years at the intern level.

James has shown positive growth over the last year,” Kingsley Jewett, Project Engineer at SPC shares; “having James return as a summer intern for 2020 gave him a leg up to support the office and field staff with trade partner coordination.” James also assists with submittals, RFI’s and day-to-day tasks that come up in the office and the field.

James grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska and is currently attending Iowa State University pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering. After graduation in May of 2021 James hopes to move to Madison, Wisconsin and continue to work on projects related to sports or historic restoration.
