  • What is the best thing about your job? I’ve known most of the superintendents for many years. It’s nice working with old friends. But, it’s just as nice making new ones.
  • Why did you choose to work in the construction industry? I have always enjoyed being outdoors. And I’ve really enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment when a job is complete. I like being a part of a team. And...I like winning! (See the Cyclones/Hawkeyes question).

  • Get to Know Benton

  • What was your first job and how old were you? My first real jobs were summer jobs in high school. Between my sophomore and junior years, I baled hay. Between my junior and senior years, I tended for a bricklayer. Then after college I worked as an apprentice for a carpenter.
  • Cyclone or Hawkeye fan? There are only Cyclones, right?
  • Favorite activity outside of work? I like to spend my winters in the shop building guitars. In the summer you can find me by the pool, generally upsetting my sweetheart with music that she thinks is too loud.
